New Orleans EMS is one of the few EMS agencies with their own dedicated Rescue Division.  Stemming back to the early 1980s when the police and health department decided to separate as agencies, rescue was then placed in the hands of EMS.  While the New Orleans Fire Department also participates and is essential in certain rescue operations, NOEMS also responds and is trained in water rescue, high angle rescue, tactical response and other incredible situations.  To comemorate our NOEMS Rescue Division, we have created a limited edition Rescue Challenge Coin.
